Sunshine Silver Mining & Refining Company is a U.S.-based, development-stage mining company primarily focused on the exploration, development, and future production of silver. The company's flagship asset is the Sunshine Complex, located in the prolific Coeur d'Alene Mining District (Silver Valley) of northern Idaho. Historically one of the highest-grade primary silver mines in the world, the Sunshine Mine produced hundreds of millions of ounces of silver before ceasing operations in the early 2000s. The continuing business behind the company acquired the asset out of bankruptcy in 2010 and has since invested heavily in modernizing infrastructure, expanding its land position, and advancing exploration.
Sunshine Silver operates a vertically integrated business model, possessing a permitted onsite silver and copper refinery capable of producing 99.99% pure silver bullion eligible for direct delivery to the COMEX. While the company currently generates no commercial revenue and remains in the pre-production phase, it targets the completion of a feasibility study by early 2027 and a restart of silver production by late 2028. The mine hosts substantial indicated and inferred silver resources with exceptionally high average diluted grades (1,022 g/t in indicated resources). In addition to its primary silver focus, the company holds permits for antimony production, positioning it as a potential domestic supplier of a critical mineral used in energy, defense, and advanced technologies. Competitively, the company benefits from its location in a safe, mining-friendly jurisdiction, extensive existing infrastructure, and its status as a pure-play silver asset with rare domestic refining capabilities.
