Standard Lithium Ltd. is a pre-commercial lithium exploration and development company focused on building a domestic U.S. supply chain for battery-quality lithium. The company's flagship assets are located in the Smackover Formation, a prolific brine-bearing region spanning southern Arkansas and East Texas. Its most advanced initiatives include the South West Arkansas (SWA) Project, which is being developed in a joint venture with Equinor, and the Phase 1A Project at LANXESS's South Plant facility in El Dorado, Arkansas. Standard Lithium employs a proprietary Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) process designed to extract lithium from brine more efficiently and with a smaller environmental footprint than traditional evaporation ponds. The company operates a commercial-scale demonstration plant that has successfully processed over a million barrels of Smackover brine. While currently pre-revenue, Standard Lithium has secured a binding offtake agreement with Trafigura and is targeting commercial production by the late 2020s to supply the growing North American electric vehicle and battery storage markets.
