Founded in 1991, Semapa operates as an industrial holding company with a global footprint. Historically, its operations spanned pulp and paper, cement, and environmental services. Following the early 2026 sale of its cement subsidiary Secil to Cementos Molins, Semapa's principal asset is its controlling 76.7% stake in The Navigator Company, a major integrated forestry, pulp, and paper producer. The group also wholly owns ETSA, a waste management firm specializing in the collection, storage, and treatment of animal by-products. Semapa exports its products to numerous countries across Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Asia, with international sales historically accounting for approximately three-quarters of its consolidated revenue.
