Über das Unternehmen

Zespół Elektrociepłowni Wrocławskich KOGENERACJA S.A. is a Polish utility company focused on the simultaneous generation of electricity and heat through high-efficiency cogeneration (CHP). The company operates three main production facilities located in the Lower Silesia region: the coal-fired EC Wrocław, the biomass and coal-fired EC Czechnica in Siechnice, and the gas-fired EC Zawidawie. Together, these plants provide a total electric capacity of over 360 MW and a thermal capacity exceeding 1,080 MW. KOGENERACJA S.A.'s business model revolves around the wholesale and retail sale of electricity and district heating. The company is a critical component of the local energy infrastructure, supplying approximately 60% of the district heating needs for the city of Wrocław. While the majority of its heat is distributed through networks owned by third parties like Fortum, the company also operates its own local distribution networks in Siechnice and Zawidawie. Revenue is primarily driven by regulated tariffs for heat and electricity sales, as well as participation in the capacity market and the sale of CO2 emission allowances. In 2024, the company reported sales of 10,155 TJ of heat and 2,500 GWh of electricity. As a subsidiary of PGE Energia Ciepła S.A., which is part of the state-controlled PGE Group, KOGENERACJA S.A. benefits from the financial and operational backing of Poland's largest energy conglomerate. The company is currently undergoing a strategic transition to reduce its environmental impact, with plans to phase out coal by 2030 and invest in lower-emission technologies, including a new gas-steam unit at the Czechnica plant.
