Founded in 1792, Jerónimo Martins has grown into one of the largest food retailers in Europe and Latin America. The group's operations are heavily concentrated in food distribution, which accounts for over 98% of its consolidated sales. Its largest business segment is Biedronka, the leading discount supermarket chain in Poland, which generates the majority of the group's revenue. In Portugal, it operates the Pingo Doce supermarket chain and the Recheio wholesale cash-and-carry business. The company has also expanded into Colombia with its Ara neighborhood stores and operates the Hebe health and beauty retail chain in Poland, Czechia, and Slovakia. Additionally, Jerónimo Martins has an agribusiness division to secure direct supply of strategic products like dairy, beef, and aquaculture.
