Rederiaktiebolaget Gotland, commonly known as Gotlandsbolaget, is Sweden's oldest passenger shipping company, founded in 1865. The company's principal operation is Destination Gotland, which runs the state-subsidized ferry traffic between Visby on the island of Gotland and the mainland ports of Nynäshamn and Oskarshamn, carrying both passengers and freight. In addition to its core ferry operations, Gotlandsbolaget has diversified into other maritime and tourism ventures. It operates product tankers through Gotland Tankers, runs the Oslo-Copenhagen cruise ferry route (acquired from DFDS in 2024), and holds a joint venture in Gotland Alandia Cruises. The company also owns and manages hotel and real estate properties on Gotland, including a partnership with Strawberry for hotel operations. A key strategic focus for Gotlandsbolaget is 'Destination Zero,' an initiative aimed at developing fossil-free and hydrogen-powered vessels to achieve climate-neutral transport by 2045.
